A new language would be original in the sense of meeting the threshold for creativity and presumably being independently created. The question then is whether there is a bar to an otherwise protectible work, as in Section 102(b); e.g., a language is a system.William Patryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12987498082479617363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12505562.post-74219010165576688262007-09-25T12:08:00.000-04:002007-09-25T12:08:00.000-04:00Even more interesting than the question of whether...Even more interesting than the question of whether jokes are copyrightable is whether *Klingon* is copyrightable. Can you copyright a language? I think a language is a tool (perhaps a "system"), rather than expression, but I realize reasonable minds may differ on this.Bruce Boydenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02247768315353108904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12505562.post-21900410547843795012007-09-24T10:20:00.000-04:002007-09-24T10:20:00.000-04:00Mike,At the risk of answering a question you reall...Mike,

At the risk of answering a question you really did not mean as a question, you are overreacting (not by being "a little uncomfortable" but with the judgment of "compeletely irresponsible"), IMHO.

Ciao,
PaulAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12505562.post-64136817565462358782007-09-23T20:50:00.000-04:002007-09-23T20:50:00.000-04:00My discomfort is I find the show painfully unfunny...My discomfort is I find the show painfully unfunny.William Patryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12987498082479617363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12505562.post-87031273928536734752007-09-23T19:01:00.000-04:002007-09-23T19:01:00.000-04:00Am I the only person a little uncomfortable with t...Am I the only person a little uncomfortable with this program's title, the Young Turks? The program's About the Show link says the dictionary definition of a Young Turk is a "Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. Young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations." Am I overreacting or is this ahistorical approach to the phrase completely irresponsible?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
